 Academgorodok - scientific and educational center
 Novosibirsk Academgorodok, founded in 1957 on the initiative of academician M.A. Lavrentiev, is one of the largest scientific and educational centers of Russia. A characteristic feature of the Academgorodok is its multidisciplinarity. On its territory there are more than 40 research institutes of physico-mathematical, chemical, biological, humanitarian profiles. The Academgorodok also has the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS). In many areas, research conducted at the Academgorodok is at the forefront of science.
Another distinguishing feature of the Academgorodok is the deep integration of science and education. In the immediate vicinity of the institutes is located one of the best classical universities in Russia – Novosibirsk State University (NSU). Starting from the third year, each university student undergoes practical training in the laboratories of research institutes. In addition, most teachers at NSU are active researchers. All this allows the university students to be trained in such a way that, together with deep fundamental knowledge, they gain practical skills in generating and implementing new ideas and methods. NSU graduates, regardless of their specialty, are widely demanded in the labor market and are appreciated not only in Russian and foreign research centers, but also in commercial companies.
An important and integral part of the academic and educational system of Academgorodok is the Specialized Educational and Scientific Center at NSU (Physics and Mathematics School), which educates talented children from various cities, towns and villages of the Urals, Siberia and the Far East. Since its foundation in 1963, the school has trained more than 10,000 students. Most graduates of the physics and mathematics school continue their studies at NSU.
The scientific developments of the institutes are actively introduced into the industry both by the institutes themselves and centrally - in the specially created Technopark of the Academgorodok - the Academpark. However, small innovative enterprises most successfully solve the issues of introducing specific developments - more than a hundred of them work on the territory of the Academgorodok. So, the SibAkademInnovation Association unites more than 50 instrument-making enterprises. An important role is also played by IT-profile companies, which are combined in the SibAcademSoft association.
Socio-cultural environment of Academgorodok
 A unique feature of the Novosibirsk Scientific Center is its socio-cultural environment. When the Academgorodok was created, or as the people simply call it - Gorodok, its natural environment was maximally preserved. Therefore, the windows of residential apartments overlooking a real pine forest are by no means uncommon, and the absence of this type is rather strange for residents. The bulk of the population of fifty thousand is made up of working or former scientists. In addition, there is a university campus in Gorodok, which is home to about five thousand students. That is why in the Academgorodok the atmosphere of freedom and creativity so valued by all residents invariably reigns. In recent years, a significant number of highly educated people who have achieved success in business have settled in Academgorodok as an ecologically clean forest-park area, which gives Gorodok dynamism and fresh strength.
 The center of the cultural life of Gorodok is the House of Scientists of the SB RAS, in the small hall of which seminars will be held (coordinates Google Earth 54 50 11.11 N 83 06 09.07 E). Symphony and pop concerts, international scientific conferences, art exhibitions are regularly held at the House of Scientists, popular science lectures are given, and dozens of clubs work: from the flower growers club to the French club. Curious expositions are offered to visitors by the Mineralogy Museum, the Museum of the History of the SB RAS, the Museum of Archeology and Ethnography, the Museum of the Sun, the Central Siberian Geological Museum, and the Museum of Railway Engineering of the West Siberian Railway.
 On the border of Academgorodok there is the Central Siberian Botanical Garden - a favorite place for walks of lovers and just residents of Gorodok. You can ski in the forest both in the Town itself and in its immediate surroundings. Fans of downhill skiing use the Kliuchi ski resort, located just 12 kilometers from Gorodok. And a 20-minute walk from Academgorodok is the Novosibirsk Reservoir (Ob Sea) with its beaches in summer and ice fishing and ice holes in winter. At the end of March, the reservoir is still chained with thick ice.
